COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Flex-Pression Ontario. is a C.S.A. and T.S.S.A. certified manufacturer of flexible metal hose and expansion joints. Our products and services are used in a wide variety of industries including steel and other commodity production, mining, shipping, chemical processing and anywhere necessitating media transfer where temperature and pressure are factors. All of our products are T.I.G. welded and tested on site in accordance with industry standards for metal hose and expansion joint manufacturers.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the production manager, the assembler-welder will be required to perform preparatory work on welding and to carry out assembly and welding projects. The assembler-welder will perform the following tasks :

  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures ;
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements ;
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (cut material with powered saws to match measurements) ;
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded ;
  • Align components using calipers and rulers ;
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions ;
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety ;
  • Perform, on occasion, any other task requested by his immediate superior.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as welder
  • Experience using TIG welding equipment and procedures
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Deftness and attention detail
  • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
