SAF-HOLLAND SE is the largest independent listed supplier to the commercial vehicle market in Europe and is present in most of the world’s markets. The Group currently is active on six continents. We are currently looking to fill openings for a Welder at our Wylie, TX location.

SUMMARY

Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. In each of the duties listed below the employee is expected to perform to the highest standards of quality, to strive for maximum customer satisfaction, and to continually look for ways to improve the methods, practices and procedures of this position.

Reads work orders and blueprints to determine operation, parts and tools needed.

Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.

Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.

Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.

Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.

Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.

Utilizes hoists to move material.

Where applicable must follow OPC manual for the job.

Records production in computer.

Transfers inventory in computer.

Responsible for complying with all company policies, procedures, values, ethics, and rules.

Responsible for following all safety rules including, but not limited to, reporting all accidents to supervisor immediately and utilizing all proscribed safety equipment including personal protective equipment.

Maintains complete security and confidentiality of all Company records and employee data.

Maintains a clean, orderly and professional work area.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience. Must be proficient at MIG welding of ¼ – ½ plate and cast welding. Must pass a blueprint reading test (with Weld Symbols) which also incorporates mathematics. Must pass practical Weld Test.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and understand blueprints.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and understand blue prints.
