Overview
We are a family run business, operating since 1946. We specialize in island construction and are located in Honey Harbour on Georgian Bay. Below is brief job description.
– Must be comfortable working on and in the water and on boat/barges
– Fabrication of steel tube docks, boat houses, boat shelters etc.
– Fabrication of shore decks in or around water at job sites
– Fabrication of aluminum dock ramps
– Inspect welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications
– Perform a variety of tasks involving physical and manual labour
– Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required;
– Maintain inventory of required material on hand; provide detailed list to Management prior to running out of stock
– Ability to work under pressure and follow direction
– Ability to take instructions as assigned and ask necessary questions as required
– Ability to work independently and as a team to complete daily activities according to work schedule
– Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour under adverse field conditions
– Assist with general maintenance on necessary equipment and machines
– From time to time you may be required to perform carpentry work/barge work and requested to work with a crew
– Maintain a clean job site/shop, pick up tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
– Report any and all problems at the end of shift (boats, trucks, tools, shortages of material etc.)
– Work in accordance to our Health & Safety Policy
– Other duties may be assigned by management within the scope of the construction industry
– Work day is 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 4:00pm on Friday (some Saturday’s as requested)
– Two 15 minute breaks are provided (paid), one half hour lunch break provided (unpaid)
– A probationary period is in effect for the time period of 3 months
– You are required to provide your own hand tools, hard hat, welding helmet, safety boots, safety glasses, etc.
– Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card required
– Valid Driver’s License required
– CWB Certification an asset
– Valid WHMIS certificate required
– Valid Working At Heights training required
– First Aid & CPR training an asset
– MEDA3 certificate an asset
– Monetary compensation based on experience and knowledge
