The Opportunity
We are currently looking for Apprentice Welders and Apprentice Pipefitters to work out of our SE Calgary Facility (8700 Venture Ave SE – not transit-accessible).
Reporting to the Foreman, the responsibilities will include:
- Cut and bevel pipe with oxygen/acetylene torches
- Help fit and tack pipe spools
- Setup spools for welding
- Use of hand tools for grinding and buffing
- Use of an overhead crane and rigging to move spools
- Gather Fittings and Pipe to be assembled
- Other duties may apply
Requirements
- Must be either welding or pipefitting indentured apprentice
- CSTS-09/2020 or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO) ticket, or willingness to complete online prior to start
- Material & fitting knowledge
- Tack/welding experience
- Rigging/Overhead Crane operating experience is an asset
- Ability to read, interpret and determine dimensional information from drawings and specifications
- Ability to measure accurately, lay out work, cut, bevel, thread and fit pipe spools
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Proven commitment to safety
- Excellent communication, attitude, collaborative skills and ability to follow directions
Working Conditions
- Inside/outside work
- Physically demanding position; lifting up to 60lbs, working at heights, going on/off equipment and up/down ladder
- You will work in a large manufacturing facility with other trades present
