Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Pedorthic Supervisor and under the direction of the Biomechanical Foot Orthoses Fabrication Lead, responsible for foot orthoses fabrication (cast modification, fabrication and adjustment) and footwear modifications. Assists in advancement of systems, protocols and standards as relating to foot orthoses fabrication.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience

Grade 12 graduation. Completion of a recognized Orthotic Technician program preferred.

Eligible for registration with PAC or CBCPO (Certification Board of Canada for Prosthetics and Orthotics).

Minimum 2 years practical experience with foot orthoses fabrication (including but not limited to: cast modification, fabrication and footwear modification)

Skills And Abilities

Demonstrated technical competency with device fabrication and ability to operate related equipment and tools.

Knowledge of AOMS (Automated Orthotic Manufacturing Systems)

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated ability for planning and managing high volume workload.

Ability to work cooperatively with other professional disciplines as a team member.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
