Job Purpose
The Estimator is responsible for the coordination of all bid documents, seeking and analyzing sub trade quotations, completing quantity take-offs, and compiling all pricing for formal submission.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Display’s a commitment to Academy’s vision, values, and culture
- Participates and adheres to Academy’s HSE program
- Exercises due diligence in review of Request for Quotation documents
- Distribute bid for internal review and feedback
- Distribute bid to subs for pricing and delivery
- Complete Material Takeoff (MTO), and review prior to sending to suppliers for quote
- Compile all pricing (Subcontractor, Materials, Structural, Welding)
- Make supplier recommendation based on price, schedule, and clarifications
- Complete Structural Takeoff (STO), review structural estimator pricing for completeness, verify calculations
- Write Bid Letter, and have reviewed by Supervisor
- Submit bid to client and respond to follow up clarifications
- Distribute handover email to project team for awarded jobs
- Conduct Internal project kickoff meeting with project team for large projects submitted by Estimator
- Review Jr. Estimator material takeoffs and support takeoffs
- Maintain knowledge of current Master Service Agreements (MSA)
- Update Estimating Standard Operating Procedures, databases year over year, and additional improvements as delegated by Estimating Manager
Requirements
Education
- Post-secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering or have equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates that possess both relevant trade experience and technical education
Qualifications
- 1 – 3 years of Piping Estimating experience is required
- Computer literacy is mandatory
- Strong computer background including experience MS Office and Bluebeam
- Ability to understand construction codes and welding procedures
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
Skills
Effective communication skills (oral and written)
High attention to detail
Ability to manage deadlines of assigned tasks
