Norfolk Disposal Services Limited is a family owned and operated Waste Management business servicing Norfolk and surrounding area for more than 50 years.

THE POSITION

Norfolk Disposal Services is currently seeking a Welder with experience to work in the manufacturing department of a Waste Management Company. This position is a 4 – 6 month contract with the potential to extend or become a full-time opportunity.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate manual welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas metal arc welding (GMAW), plasma arc welding (PAW) and shielded metal arch welding (SMAW).
  • Operate manual or semi automatic flame cutting equipment.
  • Repair work parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
  • Operate previously set up welding machines such as spot, butt and seam resistance of gas and arch welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts.
  • Perform minor repairs to trucks and trailers.
  • Operate various power tools.
  • Meet deadlines on time.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Welder Trade Certification an asset
  • Minimum of 2-3 years welding experience
  • Experience in a shop environment
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Safety minded
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions
