Field Millwright / Installer / Welder Installer
Purpose of Job:
Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and associated systems in the field, and fabricating assemblies and equipment in the shop for field installations.
Job Duties:
- Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings in an industrial environment.
- Construct the foundation or support structure for machines and equipment using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
- Install Piping systems associated with various equipment including water, air, gas, steam, and drains using various materials including steel, copper, PVC, stainless steel, and plastic tubing.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts for the formation of subunits or complete units using jigs, hand tools, and welding torches.
- Handle, position, move, and install materials using arms and hands.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines like rolls, brakes, flame cutters, drill presses, grinders, and shears to cut, form, drill, bend, and punch.
- Gather tools, parts, and supplies needed for specific job assignments and load them on the appropriate vehicle for delivery to field job sites.
- Drive vehicles to pick up/deliver materials, equipment, or tools to shop or designated job sites.
- Maintain vehicles and tools as assigned following manufacturer’s instructions, including preventative maintenance and notify supervisor of any repairs needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work area.
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Follow Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and processes as applicable.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Skills:
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Basic blueprint reading.
- Ability to work independently (after given instructions) and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical activity in a production/industrial environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School diploma/GED
Experience: Minimum 5 years experience welding and 3 years as a millwright
Licenses/Certificates: MiG, Tig, stick, and pipe structural welding certifications (or ability to obtain through testing); Must have a valid driver’s license.
