About the Position:
The Robot Operator / Fitter will be responsible for the daily production of the robot cell. This will include reading and interpreting shop drawings to accurately lay out, fit, and tack panels. They will then run the robot with programs provided by the Robot Programmer. While running the robot the Robot Operator / Fitter will be responsible for periodically stopping the robot, checking the weld quality, and restarting the program. Should an error occur, the Robot Operator / Fitter will be responsible for recording the error, resetting the robot, and running the program again. Should an error continue to occur the operator will contact the Robot Programmer and aid with troubleshooting.

Hours of Work:
Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Thursday) 40 Hours Per Week

What will you be doing:
Accurately understand, interpret and layout work per shop drawings and bill of materials.

Accurately fit and tack various sized weldments per shop drawings.

Startup the robotic cell. Perform daily brake checks and track walks.

Select and run programs provided by the Robot Programmer.

Perform periodic weld inspection to ensure the robot is scanning and welding properly.

Jog and reset the robot after minor collisions with parts or scanning errors.

Work with the Robot Programmer to troubleshoot issues encountered during operation.

Keep organized, up to date records of panels welded and any issues that may have affected the production.

Follow the policies and procedures, making sure to report potential safety issues to your supervisor.

Ensures proper use of barricades and guide ropes.

Accountable to ensure all tools and materials are taken to and removed from the job site upon completion of work.

Clear understanding of welding, manufacturing prints, and fit process (layout, Q/A check, Fit, Q/A Check)

Grinds cleans and repairs all damage from the fitting process, replacing parent metal as required.

Proficient Use of Time, keeping up with a fast-paced environment

Understands CPF and end customer’s quality expectations.

Clear understanding of crane rigging and single hoist lifts

Follows CPF’s Safe work practices (BBO success)

Properly fill out timecards when they change job numbers.

Uses 10 minutes clean up every day.

Maintains adequate attendance at work, follows direction and assists others as required.

Fits assemblies within 1/8th of an inch

Installation of all temporary bracing required for welding

Tacks are of a weldable size to burn over no tacks in corners

Look for ways to improve safety, quality, production and service

Fits anything CPF needs flat, round, square to round and custom fabrication

Fully understand rigging and crane use

Holds FCAW CS Ticket in Flat Position

Attend/participate in training required by customer

Note any problems or potential hazards to the Plant Manager and/or Supervisor that may cause personal injury or property damage, delays in production shipments, or that may affect the quality of manufactured product.

Perform job as assigned by the Plant Manager and/or Supervisor. This may include but is not limited to working at certain heights, working within confined spaces and welding in some areas for a prolonged time period. When welding at certain heights and/or in confined spaces, additional training may be required. The ability to be agile and flexible for welding in any position(s) is required. Welding of various metals may be required.

Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately in all steps within the service process. The worker must have Supervisor perform a “first off” and “last off”.

Maintain a consistent line of communication between themselves, the Supervisor and/or workers on site.

What you bring to Cambridge Pro Fab Inc:
Some of your own tools (Basic tools of the trade)

3+ years welding/ fitting experience is required.

Understand weld profiles, defects and using weld gauges

Understand the effects weld settings such as voltage, amperage and travel speed have on the resulting weld

Understand the effects torch manipulation such as Work Angle and CTWD has on the resulting weld

Understand weldment drawings and weld symbols

Experience fitting weldments per shop drawing

Experience operating an overhead crane

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Ability to keep written documentation of work completed throughout shift

Previous experience loading and/or operating a robotic cell

Previous experience working with laser cameras or vision systems

Previous experience inspecting and evaluating welds

Effective communication skills (both written & verbal).

Accountability and ability to work in a team or with minimum supervision.

Willingness to work different shifts and extra hours as required.
