Whirlwind Steel Buildings, Inc. Houston, TX Full Time

The forklift operator is responsible for operating a sit down forklift in a manufacturing shop to move bundles of steel and frames from the welding bay and stage them onto the paint line. These items can be up to 40′ in length and weigh up to 2 tons. Whirlwinds goal is to provide fabricated structures for families, congregations and businesses, in the most efficient manner while maintaining a safe work environment. The role of the Forklift Operator is crucial to the overall manufacturing process of our products.

Responsibilities

Maintaining Welders with Fabricated parts.

Removing parts once Welders have completed them.

Moving finished parts to paint area.

Shop organization.

Daily Inspection for Forklift.

Unloading parts of the exit conveyor from the paint line.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Must have at least 1 year of experience in forklift operations.

Must be able to handle large dimensional items and work in tight spaces.

Experience in the steel or pipe manufacturing industry is a plus.

Must be able to operate overhead crane.

Must follow all safety procedures.

Meticulous attention to detail with a desire to produce high quality and accurate work.

Must be dependable and reliable.

Must have a good work ethic.

Must have reliable transportation to/from work.

Must be able to work long hours when required.

Must be able to work weekends when required.
