JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
- Develops assembly plans for gas systems by: determining the layout of mechanical devices in
gas systems equipment by reviewing designs provided by the design engineer; and determines
process, techniques, tooling, materials and supplies, precision measuring devices as well as hand
and power tools
required for assembly of gas systems equipment.
- Fabricates, by welding and metal forming, structures required in the assembly of gas systems
equipment.
- Develops written processes, drawings and other work aids to be used as references during the
assembly of gas systems equipment. Provides verbal instruction to staff and sub-contractors
during assembly process.
- Provides technical advice and guidance to lower-level technicians, technologists and sub-
contractors engaged in the assembly of gas systems equipment. May perform some or all of the

duties of lower-level technicians and technologists in the Gas Systems group.
- Oversees fabrication of custom-designed or adaptations of metal components by technicians or
technologists in the fabrication shop.
- Commissions complex hydrogen gas systems at client sites. Trouble-shoots, repairs and
calibrates equipment as necessary to complete the commissioning.
- Ensures log books and files are maintained by technical staff to document tests performed,
operating procedures, equipment calibration, etc.
- Ensures safety plan for assembly area is in place and that safety procedures are followed by
technicians, technologists and sub-contractors; addresses any deficiencies in safety
training. Ensures work area is maintained in a safe and organized condition.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the
job.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Diploma of Technology in a Mechanical discipline from an accredited Institute of
Technology and over eight (8) years of relevant experience in a similar environment; OR
- Completion of a Certificate of Technology in a Mechanical trade from an accredited Institute of
Technology plus completion of Millwright trades certification with over eight (8) years of relevant
experience in a similar environment;
- Must be eligible for a gas fitters licence with Technical Safety BC (formerly BCSA) for high
pressure gas installations. Requires a valid BC driver’s licence. Requires eligibility to travel
internationally with no restrictions.

industry-leading hydrogen vehicle fueling stations. Powertech has already helped put fuel cell
vehicles on the road – we need you to help us put the fueling infrastructure in place.
The Hydrogen Infrastructure group is a technical leader in the design, construction, and operation
of compressed hydrogen fueling infrastructure solutions – these include stationary, semi-
permanent, and mobile refueling stations, light-weight tube trailers, and station testing and
certification equipment. We pioneered the design of turnkey, containerized hydrogen fueling
station packages. Other firsts include the world’s first 700 bar “fast-fill” hydrogen refueling station
and the first hydrogen station capable of fueling four fuel cell vehicles simultaneously.
- Hands-on experience with installation or field service of mechanical system, piping, plumbing,
electrical system, instrumentation and controls equipment
- Knowledge in Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical drawings and
electrical systems
- Knowledge of safe work practice (PPE, working with flammable gas, rated zones, construction
zones)
- Experience working with High pressure gas systems, Piping and pressure vessels or Flammable
gas an asset
- Experience working with hydrogen, nitrogen and/or liquid nitrogen.

- Experience with basic wiring, instrument diagnosis.
- Able to document summaries, work orders, and status reports clearly.
- Knowledge of compressors, pressure vessels, valves, and/or seals.
