General Labourer – Welding/Packaging Department

Calgary Manufacturing
Reports to:
Production Manager
Position Summary:
This is an entry level general labour position. Previous experience in a metal fabrication shop is not required, however a basic knowledge and ability to use small power tools such as angle grinders and hand drills is a necessity.
Work Schedule:
We are seeing candidates for DAY and NIGHT shifts; you will work 12 hours shifts rotating 5x days on and 3x days off
Duties:
· Perform general tasks as assigned by Supervisor
· Handle materials – within the shop and outdoors as required
· Assisting various machine operators in setup; moving materials in and out of the shop using overhead hoist and forklift
· Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
· Operate various equipment as described in company procedures
· Perform work safely and follow established work procedures
· General shop cleaning
· Adhere to health, safety and quality policies, as well as all company policies and
procedures
· Participate in training and safety meetings
· Other duties as required

· Able to meet deadlines and do so safely
· Mechanically inclined, ability to use small hand tools and/or power tools
· Attention to detail
· Team player
· Strong aptitude to understand drawings
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English
Qualifications/Requirements
· Grade 12 or GED – additional education past high school would be an asset
· Manufacturing and forklift/overhead crane training or experience an asset
· Good physical fitness
· Stand or walk for long periods of time
· Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate materials
· Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs, lift items weighing more than 50 lbs with
assistance from other workers, forklift and/or overhead hoist
· Exposure to fine dust and airborne particles, high noise level
Pay:
Pay is dependent on experience. This position is eligible for overtime pay, and total compensation is greater than $65,000 when OT is factored into earnings. We offer employer paid benefits and an RRSP matching program to eligible employees.
