We are seeking two (2) Journeyperson CWB Welders to help support Cameco’s Northern Maintenance Department – Cigar Lake mine

Job Summary: The Journey person Welder will perform demolition and installation of steel structures and supports with some welding based on engineered drawings, and other duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities: Report to the direction of Cameco Maintenance Mechanical Foreman, either Surface or Underground, perform general maintenance in the welding trade including bug limited to cutting, welding, fabrication, pressure pipe welding in the process plant, and shop area underground or surface.

  • Complete job hazard assessment and put mitigation strategies into place on a task-by-task basis
  • Take direction and perform tasks with minimum supervision
  • Read engineered drawings and specifications to lay out the work
  • Safe rigging and hoisting of components into position utilizing manual hoisting devices, cranes, and other mobile equipment
  • Able to weld components in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions
  • Determine materials required for each job and able to effectively plan task sequence
  • Complete safe demolition of existing steel structures
  • Follow all safety requirements and report any unsafe working conditions according to Company Policy
  • 2 weeks in and 2 weeks out schedule (tentative: April 27 – Sept 28)

Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial/construction work environment.

  • Registered – Red seal Journeyman Welder
  • Safety Certification Required:

o WHMIS 2015

o Confined Space

o Fire Extinguisher Training

o Fall Protection

o CWB all position welding certificate – ‘B’ Pressure

o AWP

o Rigging and Hoisting Cert
