GC Custom Metal Fabrication is currently recruiting for a Welder who has a passion for working with metal utilizing TIG and MIG welding equipment working with light gauge sheet metal, including carbons steel, stainless steel, and aluminum . The passion that is shown results in amazing finished products for our customers from many different diverse work sectors in the economy.

In return for your hard work, you will be paid a wage that is dependent on your experience and expertise ranging from $ 28 to $ 32 per hour plus overtime and a solid benefit package with the opportunity to work in a truly “ family type work atmosphere” that boasts both a “ superior “ modern and immaculate working shop area.

Testing evaluation with a TIG and MIG Welder on light gauge metal will form part of the recruitment process.

THE JOB:

As a key member of our team, you, one of our Welders are responsible for assisting metal work order project completion with an ever-changing variety of activities including workorder documentation (reading drawings, reviewing notes, and following directions), resource & material management (time and materials), basic physical labour, and quality control. You are able to build rapport with all stakeholders (vendors, staff and clients), and will work perfect your trade within our high quality production facility. You will learn to act in a manner that promotes the highest levels of quality and productivity and always represents our organization in a professional way while you are working.

The apprentice or/ Journeyman/Journeywoman Welder will assist in that area of production through doing a variety of Tig and Mig welding as well as basic labour tasks that fall within the needs of our workorder project completion.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • 5-7 Years’ work experience preferably in an industrial environment
  • Completed and achieved at a minimum a 2nd year apprenticeship period, or are applying to achieve your Journeyperson status.
  • Strong ability to weld using TIG and MIG welding equipment with light gauge sheet metal
  • Experience with fitting sheet metal and light structural material assemblies.

Strong ability to interpret drawings for part identification and assembly purposes.

  • Experience in sanding and finishing in preparation for paint or abrushed finish stainless steel.
  • Experienced on utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, as well as shop equipment
  • Some knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of sheet metal fabrication & quality assurance
  • Able to complete measurements with a variety of devices and able to understand those measurements as it relates to welding and metal fabrication.
  • Average computer skills and experience with Microsoft applications
  • Familiarity with all types of welding equipment and tools associated with metal fabrication.
  • Great interpersonal skills and positive attitude. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of people.
  • Mature and conscientious attitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in the use of the English language.
  • Strong organizational and spatial reasoning skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks and accomplish work safely in a time sensitive environment
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, and to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as to contribute to a team environment.

THE WORKPLACE:

  • Working in the production shop and office potentially, Monday to Friday, 7:30-4:00pm, though additional (overtime) hours may be required after normal business hours or on weekends.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work is required.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive, physically demanding environment
  • This position requires individuals who must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • The role is located in a shop environment where physical maneuverability is a must
  • This position is moderate to high risk with mandatory safety requirements. To perform duties in this position, individuals must be physically fit with the ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Noisy shop environment
