Overview

Electricians are responsible for performing planned and breakdown maintenance/repair/installations to mobile and stationery equipment or facilities, ensuring that all work is completed in a safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner as determined by the established requirements of the applicable trade.

Duties

Ensure that welding of equipment, machinery maintenance and repairs are carried out effectively and safely

Stick and wire feed

Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.

Welding and repair of machinery and equipment, structural construction welding and any other welding duties as assigned by the mechanical Foreman.

Fabricating

Diagnosing and troubleshooting of welding machines

Knowledge of Safety regulations pertaining to hot work procedures

Work well in team environment

Requirements

Alberta Journeyman/Red Seal Welder certification required

Minimum 2 years welding on Surface Maintenance Mobile Equipment required

Experience welding on Shovel Buckets considered an asset

Work Environment

The incumbent works at the CST Mine Site facility on a 12 hour, 7 day on/7 day off, day/night shift schedule. (Night shifts are required in some Departments). Overtime and call-outs may be required due to the nature of the work. He/she can expect to work in both an indoor setting and outdoors in inclement weather and may be exposed to dangerous physical hazards [heavy lifting] found around an industrial site including possible exposure to fire, smoke, fumes, odors, chemicals from oxy-acetylene cutting and welding and exposure to coal dust. The incumbent may be exposed to loud and continuous noise levels that require ear protection. As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to comply with pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per the Drug and Alcohol Policy. As required, personal protective equipment will include, but is not limited to, the use of an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, hearing protection, CSA approved respiratory protection, protective clothing and gloves.

Wages and Benefits

No camp available, you are be required to hold residence, on some level, in the town of Grande Cache for the duration of your work rotation.

7 and 7, 12 hour day /night rotation.

Hourly employees, required to sign on for membership with the United Mine workers of America (UMWA) for a onetime $200.00 initiation fee, and $81.63 per month.

$47.71 per hour.

$1.10 per hour night shift premium.

$450.00 per year for boot/clothing allowance. ($17.31 bi weekly taxable, benefit)

$1,144.00 per year tool allowance ($44.00 bi-weekly, taxable benefit)

$600.00 per month Trades Allowance ($300.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)

$500.00 per month Living Allowance ($250.00 bi weekly, taxable benefit)

$500.00 yearly Fitness Allowance
