General Summary:
The Welder (UDS – Pipe) position is responsible for setting, fitting, and welding various assemblies to be used in the construction of our air handling Utility Distribution Systems.

The preferred candidate should have 12+ months performing welding procedures according to the NC-DOT certification outlined section 1072-20.

Must have or be able to pass 3rd party written tests according to NC-DOT requirements.

Must be able to pass the physical weld tests outlined by NC-DOT.

Demonstrate they can perform multiple types of welds on multiple types of material per the NC-DOT requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Confirm to all safety guidelines while performing duties and operating equipment

Identify work to be performed via SAP or MII work center priority

Load standard programs into machine control from program directory

Create non-standard part programs in machine control, as needed

Bend to both standard and non-standard component parts in accordance with drawings and specifications

Conduct quality specification check using calipers, squares, and protractors

Stage formed parts on material handling equipment in preparation for downstream operations

Perform daily operator preventive maintenance and daily operator housekeeping tasks (5S)

Operate overhead lifting equipment and material handling equipment, a needed based on safety guidelines

Maintain daily housekeeping

Other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Between 3-6 months prior manufacturing experience

Basic math and computer skills

Ability to read measuring devices; use caliper and thickness gauges, and distinguish between various thickness and type of material

Ability to recognize the correct tooling for the machine to perform the correct job

Strong attention to detail and high level of concentration to ensure quality work

Physical Demands:
Must lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis

Standing for a minimum of 8 hours per day

Continuous lifting, kneeling, pulling, bending, etc.
