Overview

Under the direction of the Fabrication Shop Foreman, the Lead Hand is responsible for assisting with the function and performance of the shop and its workers in achieving the successful completion of fabrication projects.

  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of the use and operation of welding equipment
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Study blueprints and sketches in order to plan material, equipment, and labour requirements
  • Operate machines and other equipment to observe and diagnose malfunctions or test repaired equipment
  • Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees
  • Be able to perform the duties of a Journeyman Welder
  • Plus additional duties as assigned by Supervisor

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Alberta Journeyman Welders Certificate with Red Seal Designation.
  • Current or has held Alberta “B” Pressure Ticket(s).
  • Current or has held CWB welder tickets including GMAW and SMAW.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Possess a suitable combination of education and experience to be able to perform the responsibilities outlined.
