MACHINE SHOP and FABRICATION SHOP ASSISTANTS

We are seeking hardworking and reliable individuals to join our team as Machine Shop and Fabrication Shop Assistants. This is a full-time, permanent position with a 40-hour work week, offering opportunities for advancement and company-funded tuition for schooling and apprenticeships. The work schedule is a 4-day week, with day shift hours of either 5:00am – 3:45pm or 6:00am – 4:15pm, Monday to Thursday. The starting wage is $24 per hour, with potential for wage increases based on prior work experience, ability, and trades training. Full benefits are available after 90 days of employment.

Job duties will include:

  • Finishing machined/fabricated parts using hand tools and grinders
  • Maintaining clean work areas, including removal of metal chips and scrap wood
  • Material handling including forklift and overhead crane operation (certification is an asset, but not required as we will provide training)
  • Machine upkeep and oiling
  • Radial drill press operation (experience is an asset, but not required as we will provide training)

Skills required:

  • Limited experience is necessary as we will provide training to the right individuals
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on an occasional basis
  • Proficiency with hand tools and powered tools
  • Reliability, organization, and ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Requirements:

  • Steel-toed CSA approved work boots
  • Reliable transportation
  • Good safety record
  • High school diploma preferred, but apprentice trades training is a definite asset
  • Interest in building a career in machining or metal fabrication
