Overview
Your Challenge:
Responsible for supporting the fabrication of new Tower and Ride Support parts being produced by strategic subcontractor partners, through project-controlled shop drawings
Development of Standard Operating Procedures for the fabrication of products in relationship to paint, welding, and cosmetic appearance requirements not captured through traditional industry standards
Provide product technical support to Procurement in reviewing costing that aligns with quoting provided by subcontractors
Ensure that project specific quality requirements are captured as part of the subcontractor’s Inspection and Test Plan (ITP)
Identify and provide design feedback, for incorporation into drawings, that would yield improved manufacturing efficiencies and optimization of fabrication techniques through best industry practices
Conduct subcontractor source and first article inspections as required through contractual, project and factory surveillance audit requirements
Support Procurement and supplier quality function with the introduction and onboarding of new suppliers, including initial factory audits and contributions to KPI development
Support the Handling and Control of Non-conforming Material, through the submission of a Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for issues identified during review of shop drawings, supplier fabrication defects and field issues
Facilitate between subcontractors and design authority, material substitutions for approval and control of the fabrication baseline
Support other products such as product theming and OEM, with a focus on metal fabrication
What You Bring To The Role:
Bachelor’s Degree or Technologist/Technician in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. A combination of hands-on work experience and education will be considered in lieu of identified educational requirements.
Minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience working in a similar role and environment, ideally with exposure to various metal fabrication capabilities
Proficient in American Welding Standard (AWS), Canadian Welding Standard (CWS) and European Metal Fabrication Standard EN 1090
Excellent understanding of manufacturing principles, change management, planning, procurement, and product development stage gate process
Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of PLM systems for the management of the overall product lifecycle – from concept to product obsolescence
Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills
Strong project management skills in a technical environment
Ability to work independently, often under pressure and against deadlines
Strong analytical skills and sound business judgment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Verbal and written proficiency in English is essential
Travel required for site visits, supplier audits, and source inspections
