Full Job Description

Summary:
Deseret Cattle & Timber is seeking a hardworking and reliable Mechanic to join our ranch truck/tractor shop! This role assists in accomplishing shop goals by performing mechanical tasks on a variety of farm equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment including trailers, tractors, wagons, discs, loaders, pumps, and other equipment.
  • Maintain and operate in-field service vehicles and all ranch heavy equipment including challengers, dozers, and skidders.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on pickups and UTVs.
  • Keep all equipment operational and complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Ensure equipment receives proper preventative maintenance and servicing.
  • Make recommendations on continuous improvements and cost saving efforts.
  • Weld, fabricate, and repair implements, and equipment used for pasture conversion.
  • Provide excellent customer service, build strong professional relationships, and support team/farm goals through collaborative efforts with ranch employees.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols; champion a best-in-class safety culture.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of repair and maintenance on pickups, tractors, and other heavy equipment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent. Trade School or other relevant degrees highly desired.
  • Valid in-state Driver’s License.
  • Welding experience with ability to weld using arc and MiG welders. Welding certificate in MiG and Stick welding a plus. Experience with oxy/acetylene, grinders, drills, and bandsaws.
  • Must be able to drive a tractor with implements and be able to hook up and detach the implements.
  • Ability to operate telehandlers and skid steers.
  • Must be able to work a 45-hour week with longer hours during critical equipment operation times.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the role and be able to work outside in year-round weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
