Pipefitter & Power Engineer

This job for a person with a 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate and who is a journeyperson pipefitter. This person should possess a strong mechanical aptitude, and should desire to work with their hands servicing, installing, and operating industrial steam boilers. This role is ideal for a person coming from an pipe fitting background, has a strong knowledge of piping and codes (specifically with a focus on threaded pipe), and who now wants to develop a deeper knowledge of high pressure steam systems.

This role is a mix of service, shop, and boiler operating and our company focuses on industrial steam boilers. At the shop, this individual will assist with the fabrication of custom-built equipment, boiler rental packages, and maintenance of equipment. In the field, this individual will service boilers, lead annual inspections, set up and operate portable rental boilers at sites around the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley. Ocassional out of town work is required

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with fabrication and repair of portable steam boiler units – experience with power tools, electrical, piping, millwrighting, and welding is an asset
  • Deliver and set-up of portable boiler equipment including connections to plant services
  • Troubleshoot issues with customer’s plant equipment (e.g. boiler, piping system, pumps), perform repairs, and recommend remedial work to be completed or parts that need to be replaced
  • Work with threaded pipe, and work with fittings and metal appropriate for service with high pressure steam systems
  • Assist in the installation of new boilers and the repair of existing boilers
  • Operate boilers in a variety of plant applications
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot boilers and plant equipment by isolating the root cause of problems
  • Undertake preventative maintenance and maintain a clean working space

Required Qualifications:

  • 4th Class Power Engineers Certification
  • Journeyperson Pipefitter
  • Willing to do occasional shift work and work overtime
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical, millwrighting, gas-fitting, and welding ability
  • 3rd class power engineering certificate
  • Independent and dependable self-starter
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs
