Overview
We are currently seeking a Machine Operator with Welding experience to join the production team in our Richmond Hill Plant for the afternoon shift (2PM-10PM). The Machine Operator will operator the spiralizer machine, threader and saw cutter in the Plant to prepare the material and weld it as per the ticket/order requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints and specifications to lay out work
- Selecting the appropriate quantity, length, and gauge of rebar as required for the structure being assembled
- Welding bars using MIG welder
- Ensuring machine guards are in place and materials are handled in a safe manner while wearing appropriate safety equipment
- Being able to detect the faulty operation of equipment, as well as faulty material
- Sorting and reworking defective material, repacking and disposing of scrap as required
- Position and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms, using fasteners, rod-benching machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.
- Cut rods required lengths, using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches (cut metal components for installation).
- Bend Steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machines and weld theme with arc-welding equipment (weld metal components)
Requirements:
- Experience in a manufacturing warehouse would be an asset.
- Previous welding experience is required. A formal welding certificate is preferred, but not required;
- Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively while maintaining high attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Willingness to assist other plant personnel when required.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
