Bristol Machine Works Limited is an ISO 9001 certified welding and machine shop located in Sudbury, Ontario Canada. We service Sudbury. Northern Ontario and various customers worldwide. Our plants specialize in the manufacturing, fabrication, and repair of a large variety of medium to larger sized products, principally used in all aspects of the mining industry.

Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Set-up, operate and maintain machinery and equipment
  • Perform precision welding operations
  • Responsibilities and duties will vary with the welder’s developed areas of specialization.
  • Disassembly/Assessment and Repair
  • Base metal identification
  • Determination of optimal tooling
  • Selection of manual or semi-automatic welding, sub arc and burning tools
  • Selection of optimal welding machine amp and welding procedures and data sheets
  • Proper use of preheat and post heat
  • Set-up requirements may include part or product evaluations, jig or fixture design and fabrication, and development of set-up documentation

What you need:

  • Provincially or inter-provincially licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or an equivalent agency.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Secondary school graduate with grade 12 mathematics
  • Candidates must demonstrate the competencies outlined by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities welding trades guidelines
  • Must have CWB flat and horizontal flux core and overhead SMAW stick welding tickets as a minimum
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have 4 or more years of welding experience in the fabrication and repair of Bristol type products
  • Potential to work underground and at various work sites if required

The performance of applicants will be measured against the responsibilities, duties and accountabilities outlined by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Welding trades guidelines, and the skills outlined in the attached job description.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $37.72-$38.22 per hour

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required)

Experience:

  • Welding: 5 years (preferred)
