Overview

Under the direction of the Foreman, the responsibilities of the Robotic Welder Technician position include, trouble shoot, adjust, and modify robotic welding equipment while maintaining the quality of product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.

– Fit and tack materials.

– Operated gas metal arc welding (GMAW) aluminum welding.

– Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.

– Operate equipment safely and demonstrate safe work habits.

– Detect faulty operation or defective materials and notify foreman.

– Utilize safety equipment.

– Perform welding duties using a wire welder in flat, vertical or overhead positions.

– Weld aluminum components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.

– Work includes set-up, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.

– Work with fitters or fitters/welders to assist in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.

– Operate crane, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the job needs.

– Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.

– Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.

– Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.

– Troubleshoot equipment consisting of weld controllers, robotics and programmable logic controllers.

– Changeover or assist with changeover of equipment, equipment components or tooling to run different jobs.

– Modify robot, PLC programs, and machine screen interfaces (HMI’s) as required.

– Preventative maintenance and repairs as required.

– Adjust tooling and fixtures to meet part dimensional requirement.

– Ensure machines produce quality parts by maintaining equipment.

– Change welding consumables such as; electrodes, caps, weld tips and nozzles as needed.

– Ensure robot and PLC programs are modified in a manner that maintains or improves part quality.

– Trouble shoot and repair equipment components which cause down time in a timely fashion.

– Adjust MIG welding schedules on Lincoln weld controllers to meet weld quality requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

– Diploma in Automation & Robotics Technology or equivalent required.

– One – Two years experience or related field.

– Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications and instructions.

– Welding and heavy equipment manufacturing experience a plus.

PHYSICAL

Perform work standing up in work cell for 8-10 hours per day and up to 5 days a week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting devices must be used or help must be requested for anything over 35 pounds.
