Overview
Highmark Oilfield Services Ltd. is currently accepting resumes for a mechanically inclined Shop Foreman/Woman & CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector. This is a skilled position which involves preventative maintenance and repair for a fleet of commercial transport vehicles including crew trucks, trailers, mobile equipment, and light-duty trucks. As well as welding inspection duties and occasional field support including knuckle boom picker operation.
Qualifications/Skills include:
- CWB Level 1 Welding Inspector Certification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a medium / heavy fabrication environment
- Excellent knowledge of welding methods and welding symbols
- Clean – Class 1 or 3 Drivers License
- CraneSafe Folding Boom – 10 Tonnes & Under
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Digital Action Tracking System and computer systems
Shop Foreman/Woman Responsibilities:
- Operate a variety of mobile equipment to load and unload various materials and chemicals.
- Provide support to other departments by transporting vehicles and equipment to and from various locations as per operational needs.
- Clean, service and maintain assigned vehicle as per required schedule.
- May be required to perform some manual labour using a variety of hand/power tools and equipment.
- Ensure yard property, facilities, and equipment remain clean and in good order including snow removal.
- Complete as directed any inventory of tools and fleet assets and complete required inspections.
- Maintain working knowledge of changes in technology and operation techniques.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Communicates with fellow workers in a professional manner.
- Directs workers in day-to-day operations as laid out by management and the following section to meet production targets.
- Participate in the Highmark training program as required by operations.
- Complete daily Hazard Assessment Safety Meetings.
- Promptly report incidents, accidents and/or safety concerns to Management Team.
- Adhere to procedures, quality standards and safety requirements relative to each job being performed.
- Participate actively as a team member and support various health and safety, energy conservation, and operational cost effectiveness and initiatives.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both external and internal clients, as applicable.
Labour Supervision Responsibility:
- Oversee department’s labor force; Maintain daily communication with department members to ensure production needs are being addressed and schedules are being met.
- Oversee schedules and advise on shifts as needed, to meet production requirements.
- Identify developmental and training needs of department staff and the appropriate resources required for training.
- Regularly assess performance and address performance issues in a timely manner and participate in disciplinary action as required.
- In coordination with Operations Management, ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Acts as well as with Highmark oilfield’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Welding Inspector Responsibilities include:
- Complete internal/external NDE inspections as required and generate reports.
- Knowledge of ASME code.
- Submit Certificates of Conformance for customer orders.
- Completion of Inspection & Test Plan reports and submit to Quality Manager
- Ensure all shop instruments are up to date with calibrations and certifications.
- Identify, document and correct deficiencies found.
Mechanical Duties include:
- Road test motor vehicles and test automotive systems and components
- Inspect, test, diagnose, adjust, repair and replace parts and components of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance service
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed
- Estimate parts and labour costs
- Adhere and enforce to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Keep accurate records of work completed, parts used and costs
Knowledge & Abilities:
- Knowledge of the Hours of Service and Provincial truck driving rules and regulations.
- Knowledge and ability to inspect, test, diagnose, assess, troubleshoot, repair and replace electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to fabricate and weld components.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- 3 years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Education, Certifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medium/Heavy Fabrication: 3 years (preferred)
- CWB Welding Inspector Level: 1 year (preferred)
- Clean – Class 1 or 3 Drivers License
- Mobile equipment operation certificate and experience
- CraneSafe Folding Boom – 10 Tonnes & Under
- First Aid Level 1
- H2S Alive
- Energy Safety Canada CSO
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is completed in a shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
