Essential Functions:
Be responsible for making sure all employees maintain proper PPE on the shop floor and follow workloads accordingly.
Be knowledgeable of shop goals and keep them posted for your department; keep your team on track with these goals
Enforce company policies and procedures
Communicate effectively with your Lead & supervisor for your shift regarding workload, problems or issues on the shift, safety items, maintenance issues, goals and progress with respect to the goals, results of prior day, etc.
Use and/or be knowledgeable of GMAW and FCAW process to tack weld various small parts for the welder to weld. The assembly consist of base plate, hand hole, arm mounting simplex, tenon top, and/or other small parts.
Operate ironworker, press, saws, manual drill presses, cutting torch, & grinder as needed.
Perform machine setups on all machines, for all parts to be produced
Make minor adjustment to all machines/ setting of speed, volts, amps, tooling, and hydraulic pressures to obtain desired results
Work with department dispatcher to prioritize workloads to achieve acceptable fill rates
Inspect parts during and after fabrication to assure that quality is acceptable
Perform daily department walk through with lead and or other Utility personnel
Assist/leads the training of all personal
Assist maintenance personnel on any repairs required
Communicate with all Operators to assist them with any help he/she can provide
Maintain safe work habits, and takes immediate action to correct any unsafe condition that might occur
Housekeeping duties as required
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
1 year previous experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
1 year previous leadership experience or applicable team dynamics management
Read, write, and/or speak English
Must be proficient at math to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing fractions and conversion of decimals
Must be able to accurately read a tape measure and micrometer
Previous experience reading and using blue prints
Previous experience operating a forklift
Must pass FCAW and GMAW weld test and maintain certification
The ability to work assigned schedule to include overtime and weekends when required for business needs
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
1 year of previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, and/or have graduated from an acceptable technical training program focused in welding.
1 year previous experience operating a forklift
The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision
The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Ambient temperatures in work area coincide with seasonal weather changes. Exposure to metal and smoke fumes due to surrounding processes. Abnormal noise level throughout the shop requiring that hearing protection worn at all times. Direct exposure to dirt, grease, mill scale, cutting fluid, rust inhibitors, and metal particles and splinters.
Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. There will also be frequent exposure to outside elements for short periods of time. Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
