Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work from and follow process specifications, work orders, travelers, station paperwork, blueprints, rework/rejection tags, schedules, Aircraft Production Orders, schematics, layout & modifications sheets, engineering orders, Piper Production Spec (PPS), Piper Material Spec (PMS), Material Review Board, and verbal/written instruction.
Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding.
Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
Set up equipment and weld parts, using tig, gas, and heliarc welding equipment.
Repair product by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
May use stone saw, nibbler radial saw, band saw, grinder, sander, deburring tools, sand blast, furnace, drill press, welding machine, and plasma cutter.
May inspect finished parts of subordinate employees.
Maintain all necessary records, files, and reports.
Scrutinize every facet of job and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Supervisor.
Requires the use of and ownership of basic tools and various hand tools as specified by departmental tool list.
Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
May be required to train and assist other employees.

Education and Experience
High school diploma, or general education degree (GED), and three to five years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.
Ability to perform the duties of the job applying basic mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must be certified welder in accordance with Piper Process specification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat; and frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock. Due to the nature of equipment, there is probability of loss of finger or hand. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
