AVT is a family run, fast growing Elevator Manufacturer in Pickering, ON. that is looking for an experienced Welder / Fitter to join our Welding Division.

The successful candidate will work with-in a team and be responsible for a variety of on-site Welding activities.
Responsibilities will include reviewing Engineering Drawings and Specifications, laying out metal components, cutting, fabricating, and welding associated parts/components together for various elevator Structural, Cab and Entrance Assemblies. Assigned Tasks are to be completed to specification and within specified deadlines.

The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years of welding experience and a good working knowledge of standard welding tools and techniques.

Welder, Fitter Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret Engineering drawings and specifications to understand tasked project scope/requirements
  • Utilize industry tools and equipment, including powered saws, magnetic drill presses, hand shears, chipping knives, portable grinders, hand files, and scrapers
  • Fabricate templates and other work assembly aids
  • Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves, angles and assembly alignments.
  • Ability to Weld parts in flat position
  • Conduct tests to check weld quality, including destructive, cross-sectional assessments
  • Maintain proper equipment, repair as required

Welder, Fitter Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferably a post secondary diploma/certificate in a related technical discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional welding experience preferred
  • Forklift Truck experience would be an asset
  • MIG Welder Certification through CWB (CSA W47.1 Qualification) or other similar Industry affiliation a plus
  • Strong Working knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Comfortable with Moderate Lifting, Physical activity.
  • Able to read/interpret Engineering Drawing
  • Good oral/written communication skill set
  • Ability to work with-in a team as well as independently
  • Proficient in basic math

Rate will depend on experience

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
