Perks: Camp offered / FIFO – Edmonton or Calgary, AB

Work Schedule: 11 on and 3 off / 10 hours per day

Job Purpose

The Welder is responsible for fusing metal components and other metal parts together for construction and/or fabrication.

Responsibilities:
Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture

Reads Isometrics and specifications

Fuses metal components using the SMAW, GTAW process

Welds socket welds, butt welds, overlays, and fillet welds on pressure piping.

Grinds, stamps, cuts and drills material

Operates tools and equipment including overhead cranes, oxy-acetylene torches

Attends daily toolbox meetings

Completes tasks with minimal rework and repair

Properly and consistently documents and follows established procedures

Wears the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

Maintains good housekeeping in work area

Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required

Consistently follows and encourages shop rules

Willing to work overtime when required

Qualifications:
Must be a registered apprentice or an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.

Basic Rigging Course an asset

Experience working with alloys an asset

Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset

WHMIS.

F3/F4 and F6/F4 for piping, and CWB all position required

CSTS-2020 required

CSO/BSO/OSSA REGIONAL required

ESC/BTA/OSSA FALL PROTECTION required

ESC/BTA/OSSA EWP TRAINING required

ESC/BTA/OSSA CONFINED SPACE AND ENTRY required

Experience working in a live and operating facility

Possess a valid class 5 – Optional
