Steamfitter-Pipefitter/Welder

Hourly rate of pay $40.11

Pension and Benefits start immediately

INVISTA’s Maitland site located in Eastern Ontario is seeking a Steamfitter-Pipefitter/Welder to work in a maintenance and system improvement capacity.

Maitland site produces DYTEK®A amine, a chemical intermediate used globally in products such as polyamide plastics, fibers, adhesives, curing agents, polyurethanes, vitamins, pharmaceuticals and epoxy resins.

What You Will Do In Your Role

Job Description and Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and repair piping, steam traps, tracing and tubing

Support and assist Millwright work such as process pump and compressor repair and installation

Support continuous improvement initiatives and seek ways to improve workflow and reduce costs

Working from heights and ability to safely lift 25kg

Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, mathematical skills, ability to read and understand complex instructions and an ability to do exacting work

Physical condition and health compatible with duties of industrial trades

Work experience that demonstrates a high value for safety, consistent with a team environment

Willingness to work within a unionized chemical plant environment

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:
Current Red Seal Certificate of Qualification in either Steamfitter, Pipefitter or Welder.

Must be proficient in Pipefitting/Steamfitting

Able to lay out, assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related heat exchanger equipment according to specification

Strong personal commitment to work safely with a demonstrated ability to adhere to standard practices and procedures

A demonstrated ability to take initiative, work effectively with others, have high expectations, and follow through on tasks with minimum supervision

Demonstrated self-motivation to resolve problems and uses available discretionary time to complete value adding work

Demonstrated willingness to learn and teach others. Take on increasing levels of responsibilities.

What Will Put You Ahead

Preference will be given to an individual who has experience with the following skills:

Ability to read, sketch and interpret welding blueprints, drawings and specifications

Fabrication/repair of ASME B31.1, B31.3 piping

Repair of ASME Section VIII pressure vessels and ASME Section I Boilers

Fabrication and repair of structural steel to CSA Std. W59

Welding of carbon steel, stainless steel and other alloy materials

Previous certifications held in CSA W47.1 and/or TSSA Welder/welding operator certificates would be considered an asset.
