Overview

We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Steamfitter in the Plant Operations and Maintenance department at our Bayview Campus.

Hours of Work: Weekdays: Days, Evenings; 8hrs; As per schedule

Weekends: On rotation

Summary of Duties

Repairs steam, condensate, heating and ventilation systems

Repairs steam system devices, installs and/or replaces piping

Performs regular preventative maintenance on all steam system devices, including thorough inspection of steam traps throughout the Hospital as assigned

Prepares and lays out own material for repair or new installation.

Carries out other steamfitter duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

Minimum Grade 12

Possesses a current Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Steamfitter

Proven proficiency in the installation, alteration, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of steam and mechanical systems

Ability to perform work at the journeyman level

Ability to read and understand steam and mechanical system drawings

Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting is preferred

Experience with fire sprinkler systems is an asset

Understanding of control systems is an asset

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations

Proven teamwork and customer service focus

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and work on own initiative

Additional related qualifications such as Plumber, Pipefitter and Welder are an asset
