Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work schedules, supervise and provide direction based on project requirements for busy fabrication shop
  • Ensure work activities and resources allocated to projects are able to support project schedules
  • Troubleshoot and manage any interruptions or deterrents to projects. Communicate any issues, revisions or anticipated project delays to management
  • Direct or mentor welders to accomplish and complete jobs efficiently, and to ensure that quality standards are met (ISO 9001:2015, API Standards).
  • Understand and follow company safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents (COR), provide direction to staff on safety protocols.
  • Report on job work orders, end of month, incident, abnormalities, maintenance, logbooks or other reporting as required.
  • Ensure safe operations of equipment at all times and that welding equipment is maintained in peak condition.
  • Ensure parameters for specific welding procedures are followed as specified on work orders or travelers
  • Coordinate materials, logistics and distribution of materials and ensure proper material tracking
  • Create programs and systems to maximize productivity, improve shop morale, limit safety violations, and reduce the occurance of quality NCRs
  • May perform other general duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Firm-but-fair personality, capable of both keeping morale high while ensuring quality and productivity standards remain excellent
  • Capable of cultivating respect without the need for yelling or “drama”
  • Experience with managing welders
  • Class 5 Driver’s license and clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Experience in a similar role in oilfield service sector, with experience supervising and providing direction to others
  • Experience and knowledge working in an ISO 9001:2015 and COR environment. Knowledge of the American Petroleum Institute (API) requirements an asset.
  • High level of ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform calculations, measurements and math with the ability to conceptualize 3D objects from 2D drawings.
  • Knowledge of codes (API, ABSA, ASME, AISI) and specifications with ability to interpret technical specifications
  • Experience working with cranes and knowledge to safely lift loads
  • Ability to create an environment of respect and entrepreneurial spirit while constantly promoting the company’s vision, culture and mission both internally and externally.
  • Customer service focused, both internal and external to the business.
  • Good English both spoken and written with the ability to communicate with respect and professionalism.
  • Under minimal supervision, able to follow directions, meet deadlines and direct the work of others.
  • Computer skills for recording and reporting information (Microsoft Outlook and Excel mainly)
  • Reliable and dependable with a high degree of flexibility and adaptable to changing priorities, results oriented.
  • Good problem-solving skills, able to use good judgment in response to unexpected problems.
  • Completion or willingness to obtain the following certifications: TDG, WHMIS, 1st Aid
  • Working in dusty, dirty and noisy environments; while working outside may be exposed to temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions.
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, eyesight and hand-eye coordination Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects, bending, standing, stooping repeatedly for extended periods

Hourly wage based on prior experience.
