Starting salary is $11.64/Hourly

A valid Louisiana Class “B” CDL with air brakes endorsement for Trades Electrician

Starting salary is $14.76/Hourly –Trades Electrician

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience or training is required.

NOTE:
Trades: Cabinetmaker, Carpenter, Cement Finisher, Electrician, Instrument Technician, Insulator, Locksmith, Machinist, Mechanic, Painter, Pile driver, Plasterer, Plumber, Refrigeration and HVAC Mechanics, Rigger, Roofer, Sign Painter, Operating Engineers, Sheet Metalworker, Pipefitter/Steamfitter, Upholsterer, General Mechanical Maintenance jobs and Welder.

Job Concepts

Function of Work:
To assist a journeyman level tradesman and to learn the trade by on-the-job training or formal instruction as prescribed by the employing agency.

Level of Work:
Entry.

Supervision Received:
Close from a journeyman level tradesman or assigned instructor.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Location of Work:
May be used by all agencies; statewide.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from other entry or basic maintenance jobs by the performance of work directly subordinate to skilled tradesmen with the goal of preparing the incumbent for journeyman level status.

Differs from the journeyman level because it does not independently perform journeyman work in any trade.

Examples of Work

Assists a journeyman level Trades Job in its assigned duties.

Performs limited skilled tasks under close direction of a journeyman in an on the job training program.

Participates in training as prescribed by an assigned journeyman or agency policy.
