Location: Sioux City, IA

Summary/Objectives

The welding, cutting and assembly support of fabricated products.

Essential Functions

  • Weld fabricated products in accordance with customer specifications, AWS and other welding codes.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance and alert the maintenance department to any repairs needed.
  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of the workload.
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
  • Aid and support the Fitter in assembly of fabricated products.
  • Read blueprints and drawings and take measurements to plan the layout and proper procedure.
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on the requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Align components using calipers, rulers and clamp pieces.
  • Check quality against job specifications and industry standards and report any deviation.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Environment is not fully climate controlled.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior experience as a welder preferred.
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and other technical drawings.
