Overview
Welding (MIG, TIG, Flux Arc, etc.),Hard surfacing and Silver soldering
Preparation for assigned welding tasks, including grinding
Cutting components with a torch, plasma or saw as necessary
Use and maintain tools, material handling equipment and welding equipment
Fitting and measuring materials
Daily overhead crane usage after course completion
Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements (Minimum Education and Experience) :
High School Diploma or GED required;
Apprenticeship status or Journeyman certification;
3 – 5 year’s experience preferred;
Overhead Crane Course is an asset but will train in house if necessary;
Experience with basic tools required;
Training provided on the job for Apprentice Welders.
Technical Requirements ( Software or Program Knowledge Needed ):
Knowledge of welding machines & associated equipment.

HSE Requirements (Training and Physical Requirements):
Shop environment orientation (exits, fire extinguishers, first aid & eyewash stations, spill kits, propane storage) and yard environment (building locations, processes);
Squatting, bending, reaching, and walking (further details to be reviewed on JHA);
PPE training for possible noise exposure, mists/vapors, gloves, safety glasses and steel toed boots;
NOV in-house forklift training if required;
WHMIS training;
NOV in-house Overhead/Jib crane training;
Hand & Power tool safety training.
