Days/ Hours: M-F, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Overtime as needed

Pay Rate: $35-40 per hour, DOE

Duration: Temp to perm

Requirements: Fluent English, current Class C driver license, pass a drug test, clean criminal history (7 year look back)

Position Summary: Leads and coordinates welder/fabricator activities engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture parts or products. Instills a safety conscious work environment to all employees and drives process standardization and continuous improvement. Works along with the welder/fabricators to complete the various projects that are processed through the shop

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads fabrication shop personnel through all phases of production in accordance with established schedules.

Works with welders/fabricators to ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.

Organizes workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.

Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching.

Develops up-to-date and accurate documentation and reports to reflect status of projects within the fabrication shop

Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Participates in designing and building tooling needed for the various shop processes.

Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving work problems.

Develops programs and procedures for shop personnel training.

Minimum Education/Training/ Experience:
7 – 10 years of welding/fabrication experience with at least 5 years of employee lead responsibilities.

Possess the desire and ability to mentor/coach and train new employees to elevate overall team throughput and competence.

Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs.

Outstanding attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Gas Welding (GTAW/TIG)

Structural welding 3G and 4G certification is required.

Pipe welding 6G certification is required.

Possess strong organizational skills.

Able to identify tooling solutions best suited for each process to reduce overall cost.

Ability to understand shop processes. (labor hours, tooling, materials, etc.).

Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbal and written.

Reasoning ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or graphic form.

Mathematical ability to calculate variables, formulas, square roots and radicals; calculate dimensions of plane and solid surfaces; understand kinds of angles and properties of pairs of angles. Ability to impart knowledge to workers.

Ability to read and understand safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in operations sheets and hand sketches.
