At Advanced Material Handling we design and manufacture customized heavy industrial material handling equipment for pulp/paper, sawmill, biomass, OSB, cement/asphalt, sugar, OEM and mining industries all across America.

Currently, we are looking for Shift Lead – Welder for the WEEKEND SHIFT at our Abbotsford facility.

Weekend shift hours -6:00 am to 6:30 pm Friday to Sunday.

The Shift Lead is responsible for reading and analyzing blueprints and drawings to assess & solve technical problems. The Shift lead will be required to fabricate components or structures & perform quality checks. This role will be required to use a variety of light and heavy machinery such saws, drill press, mag drill, welder, grinders, measuring tools, overhead crane, forklift, oxy-fuel and plasma cutter to make the necessary cuts and to assemble the fabricated components into complete units. May occasionally use press brake, and iron worker.

Compensation

  • $32 to $40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Open and close the shop as required.
  • Conduct Toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure workers are on task.
  • Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials needed and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal.
  • Fabricates parts and structures.
  • Solve mathematical & angle problems.
  • Perform Quality Control Checks.
  • Create custom templates for metal cutting.
  • Operate Heavy & light machinery such as: drill, welding machines, saw, press brakes, shears, cutting torches, grinders.
  • Handling material with Forklifts & overhead crane.
  • Flame and plasma cutting of parts.
  • Assemble, fit and weld metal sections and plates to create complete units or subunits.
  • Install fabricated components in the final product.
  • Preheat work pieces to render them malleable.
  • Organize multiple jobs & materials.
  • Mentor apprentices & help with their skill development.
  • Keep work areas organized and maintain the work & material flow through the shop.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Red Seal Fabricator or Journeyman Welder with fitting experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Mechanical & Industry knowledge
  • Manual Dexterity

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $32.00-$40.00 per hour
