Overview

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • In-house shop fabrication fitting and welding of structural steel members/plate. Monday – Thursday, 6am – 4pm
  • Perform flux core arc (FCAW) welding operations under specific codes and to job specifications
  • Work from routing sheets, blueprints, weld procedures, written and verbal instructions
  • Weld in all positions for pressure, strength, and appearance on certified work
  • Interpret drawings; position, block, clamp, and tack parts to obtain proper alignment
  • Select proper welding equipment and material as prescribed; regulate current, voltage, and pressure for proper fusion of metals
  • Operate specified welding equipment to fabricate work to specification
  • Exercise care in welding to ensure proper technique
  • Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Repair and prep material for painting including painting assigned equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Maintain clean work area in shop or on job site and any assigned vehicles.
  • Assist other shop employees with fabrication, repairs and duties.
  • Inspect and maintain assigned hand tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order, notifying Shop Manager of needed repairs.
  • Ensure quality, efficient and safe completion of all jobs
  • Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state/provincial and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all Company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
  • Attend safety meetings.
  • Provide basic personal tools/PPE such as welding shield, safety boots etc.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

A weld test will be required. You are required to provide your own welding shield and PPE for the test, please come prepared.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Certification of welding skills is a must
  • 3-5 years experience in welding/fabricating
  • Possess a valid Drivers License, Full G. Clean driver’s abstract will be required.
  • Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Possess ability to maintain continuous mental and visual attention
  • Ability to communicate in English, writing and verbal
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under limited supervision as well as on a team

Pay is dependent on skill level.

Upon employment; valid Certifications are mandatory.
