Overview:

This is a permanent, full-time position that reports to the Project Manager of the Demolition and Recovery Services Operations team.

Schedule:

Typically 20 days on and 10 days off (occasionally 10 days on and 4 days off) from 7am – 5pm.

Job summary:

The Torch Cutter (Burner) must be willing and able to work in remote areas in BC and AB (mainly near Hinton, AB), at the company’s expense. The successful candidate will mainly be responsible for torch cutting ferrous material but will also be expected to be a team player in terms of helping with other tasks (driving, general labour, operating heavy equipment, etc.). Work is performed outdoors in all seasons.

Responsibilities:

  • Torch/cut ferrous material into proper shipping dimensions. This will include but is not limited to the following: torching plate material, pipe, I beam, H beam, and oversized equipment.
  • Act as a team player at all times
  • Records activities as required by Management
  • Keeps work area clean
  • Completes inspection report prior to using equipment
  • Observes and reports any safety issues
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years torch cutting experience
  • Equipment operator and general labour experience considered an asset
  • Scrap yard or demolition experienced preferred
  • Must be able to work efficiently and safely
  • Willing to be flexible in terms of work schedule
  • Successful candidates must undergo drug & alcohol test and a criminal background check
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
