Overview

Position Summary: While working under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor and his assigned lead person, the 3DLP Apprentice should be able to identify sections to be worked on and learn basic fit up. Must complete 3DLP Apprentice program.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate and load mechanical rollers
  • Use computer to pull up 3DLP programs matching the section being worked on
  • Square shaft ends prior to calibrating the cameras to the targets.
  • Tack parts in correct locations/within Sabre tolerances
  • Mark out thru-plate display for cutting.
  • Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, leather sleeves and/or cape, and welding hood
  • Works in confined areas at various locations on the small pole assembly line as necessary to weld components described above
  • Understand all fabrication documentation (Travelers)
  • Understanding of filler metal control (prevention of contamination)
  • Understand WPS (to include pre-heat, control of amps, volts and travel speed and gas flow)
  • Understand how to place targets.
  • Visually inspects work to conform to applicable drawings and specifications
  • Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finder to measure distances and angles

Position Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred


Experience:

Skills & Abilities:

  • Regular and timely attendance is required
  • Must pass 2F tack weld test
  • Must have knowledge of basic math.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Good listening skills preferred
  • Abnormal level of noise due to grinding, chipping, hammering requires hearing protection (ear plugs) be worn at all times
  • Must possess adequate dexterity and stamina to sustain expected production effectively

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials
  • Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends
  • Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
  • Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
