Welder- TSP Houston

Texas Steel Processing, a Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc. company, is currently seeking a submerged arc welder to join our facility in Houston, TX. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

• Follow all safety policies and procedures and wear correct PPE at all times
• Set up and operate various pieces of welding equipment; specifically, welding machines, manipulator, grinders, arc gouger, turning rolls, and rosebud
• Review and understand customer tickets
• Maintain required maintenance tasks daily, weekly, and monthly
• Locate material and verify size and quantity by visual inspection and by physically measuring material
• Good communication skills
• Ability to take and pass a weld certification test
• Other work-related duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Candidates will be asked to complete the Ramsay Corporation Combined Basic Skills Assessment (“Assessment”). To qualify for this position, the cumulative raw score of the four categories in the Assessment must be a minimum of 37, with a minimum raw score in each of the four categories of: Reading = 10, Arithmetic = 9, Inspection & Measurement = 6, and Process Monitoring & Problem Solving = 7.
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision and hearing
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements for mobility and lifting requirements
• 1-3 years of SAW, GMAW, FCAW, and arc gouging experience
• Forklift and/or overhead crane experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a steel or industrial warehouse setting preferred
• Review and understand weld procedures and code welding requirements preferred
