At CBM, we are in search for an experienced and skilled Welding Supervisor to lead our welding team. This position is responsible for maintaining CWB Certification, quality standards and meeting production schedules by effectively managing a team of 12+ employees on multiple shifts. Position Description

  • Mig & Tig Welder, completing jobs according to work instructions and customer expectations. Also operates robotic welder and performs grinding, sanding, spot welding, fitting, fixture and production welding, taping, drilling etc. Welding in all substrates – cold rolled, aluminum, stainless steel, satin coat and others as required and perform all physical requirements of the job including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Instructing employees and provide information required to perform required duties for all welding, grinding, sanding, drilling, tapping, robotic welding.
  • Communicate work instructions, production schedules and targets to employees on multiple shifts to maintain efficiency in the department
  • Train and motivate employees in order to meet production needs
  • Prioritize jobs to meet production schedules efficiently
  • Set up jobs and machinery and inspect first offs
  • Follow and maintain schedules and standard times
  • Work with Design department to ensure parts are welded & handled to specifications
  • Maintain acceptable cleanliness and daily good housekeeping
  • Re-organize department as required for custom jobs to attain throughput targets
  • Responsible for inventory and tracking of consumables and abrasives (checklist) and submit purchase requests to ensure no disruption to production
  • Complete preventative maintenance schedules and assist with troubleshooting and maintaining equipment
  • Maintain standards for CWB Certification
  • Conduct weld tests and evaluations when hiring new welders as per ISO and CWB standards
  • Track and report daily attendance to management and HR
  • Conduct performance reviews with direct reports
  • Complete all paperwork and data entry into JobBoss as required
  • Follow all ISO procedures and maintain quality standards
  • Follow all safety procedures and policies and ensure workers are following them in the department
  • Continual process improvement
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or President

Qualifications

  • Experienced and skilled Mig & Tig Welder with at least 5 years of experience Supervising a Welding Department.
  • CWB Supervisor with CWB Certificates in Mig and Tig Welding (Carbon and Stainless Steel).
  • Experience in leading a team on multiple shifts
  • Technical expertise in all welding
  • Ability to set up and operate mig welding station, tig welding station, robotic welder, drill presses, grinders, sanders, spot welding equipment and air extractors.
  • Ability to program Robotic Welder is an asset
  • Ability to read drawings to ensure parts are welded according to specifications and work instructions
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good judgement and ability to problem solve
  • Detail orientated
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate work to a team of welders following a production schedule
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures for the department
  • Ability to effectively train and lead employees
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good computer skills for data input into JobBoss system
  • Ability to weld and perform all physical requirements for the job
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality procedures

Salary: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
