As a member of the R&D Team, this individual is responsible for performing as directed project fabrication and testing. This individual must possess confidence, imagination, initiative, creativity and have a desire to continuously learn.

Education/Experience

  • Welding experience required
  • Experience working in a fabrication shop is preferred
  • Basic machining skills – operation of mills, saws, lathes, etc – preferred
  • Fabrication of fixtures experience preferred
  • An acceptable combination of education and work experience
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and electrical circuits are assets
  • Knowledge of and experience with current farming practices and equipment are assets

Accountabilities

  • Fabricate and test prototype for all R&D projects as assigned as well as aftermarket parts
  • Work with suitable prototype testing farmer/partners as required
  • Work as required with suppliers to provide/acquire costing and specifications on outside supplied components
  • Work with Prototype Coordinator in scheduling prototype fabrication and testing
  • Assist as assigned in the creation of documentation to fully document all aspects of the assigned project development testing. This includes periodic written and verbal reports as required in the form of training, written instructions, seminars, etc.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to R&D Design personnel to ensure project parameters and testing goals are met

Work Conditions

  • Primarily a typical fabrication shop working environment
  • Farm field follow-up is required – primarily during spring season
  • Extended periods of sitting, standing, and other physically demanding conditions
  • Work is performed in a combination of environments which require the usage of Personal Protective Equipment
  • This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes and oils
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations
  • Job anxiety, tension and mental stress can occur from time to time in meeting deadlines, confrontation, interruptions, long meetings and responding to general duties
  • Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required
  • Overtime as required
