    Alstar Oilfield Contractors has been providing quality construction services to the oil and gas industry since 1969. We are a leader in the oil and gas industry for turn-key new construction, maintenance and prefabrication and modular construction services. Located in Hinton and Calgary, we have grown to employ over 500 employees and service Western Canada.

    Alstar is currently looking for Structural Fitters/CWB Welders (apprentices/journeymen) for our SE shop for days and weekend shifts.

    Day shift: Monday-Thursday (6am-4.30pm)

    Weekend shift: Friday-Sunday (5am-5.30pm)

    SCOPE:

  • Fabrication of various structural steel components
  • Ensure production timelines are met and components are shipped on time
  • Fabricate components to exact design specifications
  • Read, understand and follow all Safe Work Practices and Procedures for machinery and equipment
  • Follow existing work standards and look for further improvements
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Other duties may apply
  • WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • You will work in a large manufacturing facility with other trades present
  • Primarily inside work, some outside work may be required
  • Physically demanding position
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs, work at heights, be agile and able to go on/off equipment, up/down ladders
  • Requirements

  • Certified Journeyman along with CWB tickets for MCAW and FCAW or apprentice
  • CSTS-09/2020 or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO) ticket is mandatory
  • Valid Standard First Aid (2-day course) ticket is mandatory
  • Fitting experience would be an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, cut lists, and weld symbols
  • The ability to use tools & equipment safely and abide by the health and safety rules
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication, attitude, collaborative skills and ability to follow directions
  • Experience completing Field Level Hazard Assessments
  • Proven safety attitude, contribute to safety meetings & excellent attendance history
