HIRING RANGE: $44,298 – $48,888
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Maintain port facilities to ensure protection of customer cargo and commodities and compliance with appropriate safety regulations, codes, and NC Ports policies and procedures.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Lead maintenance projects including the maintenance, repair, and construction of marine terminal buildings and systems, utilities, wharf, rail systems and grounds
Fabricate, finish, prime, and paint steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel parts, assemblies, objects, structures, etc.
Perform arc welding, brazing, TIG welding, spot welding, etc.
Perform torch cutting, air-arc cutting, mechanical cutting and grinding, drilling, milling, etc
Calculate dimensions, cut angles, and make miter cuts
Perform design work and determine construction and repair methods, materials, and services needed to complete projects
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
Complete work in accordance with provided plans and specifications
Diagnose and troubleshoot technical and functional problems and conduct required inspections
Perform maintenance and repairs in the following areas: metal welding and fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, utilities, concrete forming and finishing, masonry, roofing, fire protection systems, painting, mechanical, overhead doors, loading ramps, excavation and grading, grounds keeping
Create and complete work orders in SAP
Complete all assigned work in a timely and professional manner, ensuring internal and external customer service is a priority
All other duties as assigned by management, including working in other departments as needed
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
High school diploma or equivalent and 2-3 years of experience is required
Must have welding certificate from a previous position or from an accredited college or technical institution
Must be proficient in TIG, MIG, arc, brazing, torch cutting, mechanical cutting, grinding, marine welding, and fabrication
Must be able to operate equipment including forklifts, shop equipment, power and hand tools
Excellent reading and math skills are required
Must be familiar with respiratory and hearing protection, lockout/tag out, and comply with all safety regulations and policies
Computer skills are preferred
On-call and overtime work outside normal business hours is required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet TWIC security requirements
