The Opportunity
We are currently accepting applications for motivated full-time Instructors to join our School of Manufacturing and Automation team during the fall, winter, and spring terms of 2022/23 year. This position is to teach in the Ironworker and Crane programs on a full time basis.
Reporting to the Academic Chair, the Instructor is accountable for promoting a positive and interactive learning environment with hands-on learning. In addition, you will work with students and faculty by attending recruitment initiatives and school events, and maintain strong industry relationships. You enjoy a challenge, possess strong technical skills and are an excellent communicator who works well in a collaborative team environment.

The Role
Instruct high level courses to mature learners
Prepare and present lectures and labs
Develop course outlines, profiles and curriculum
Participate in curriculum and program reviews
Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
Evaluate student progress and achievement
Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
Oversee lifting and hoisting operations in our yard
Promote our program through open house and try a trades as needed
Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its
Qualifications & Experience
Must hold a Journeyperson and Red Seal Certificate as a Structural Ironworker, and/or a Reinforcing Ironworker with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in industry
Red Seal or Journeyperson tickets in Boom Truck or/and Mobile Crane considered an asset
Prior teaching experience is an asset, formal teaching education is an asset
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Strong time management and organizational skills
Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others
Comfortable with public speaking, and able to convey course subjects to diverse students and learning styles
Possess a positive, respectful attitude, and a high commitment to student success and collaboration
