Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

SUMMARY

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing internal combustion engines and components in both stationary and mobile equipment.

The Welder is involved in the fabrication and lining of bore components. This work may exist indoors or outdoors and may be physically demanding.

Anticipated Start Date: October 1, 2022

Location: Acheson, AB

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8-hour days, overtime available

Rate: $56.68 (Inclusive of employer contributions for vacation/statutory, health and welfare, RSP, pension, and education and training)

Other: Compensation to be provided for dual ticket

RATE DETAILS

$46.83 – Base Rate

$4.68 – Vacation/Statutory

JOB DUTIES

Comply with Company and Client Safety rules, as well as OH&S standards

Ensure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturer’s procedures in a safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe

Interpret work orders and technical manuals

Keep equipment clean, lubricated, and maintained

Diagnose faults and malfunctions

Troubleshoot and communicate equipment performance with mechanics

Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems

Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets manufactures specifications and legislated regulations

Write service reports in a timely and efficient manner

Train and/or assist other technicians or apprentices

Read and interpret blueprints to determine requirements of the job

Join or sever metals in beams, vessels, piping, and other metal components

Utilize different processes and fillers depending on the Client requirements

Clean and check weld for defects

Attend required safety and tailgate/toolbox meetings

May perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be an Alberta ticketed journeyman (or hold a journeyman certificate recognized by AIT)

Previous experience working on an industrial site is considered an asset, but not required

CSTS-09 and/or CSTS-20

Standard First Aid

Must have experience with CAT pipelayers

5+ years’ experience with Caterpillar equipment

Alberta B-Pressure Certificate and current PQR’s may be required

Current CWB All-position certification may be required

Familiarity with pipeline equipment is an asset

Able to think logically, problem solve, and keep up with changing technology

Familiar with parts and service manuals

Able to work well in a team environment

Must be physically able to lift 50lbs and climb in/under units in the field

Organized and self-motivated

Pre-employment alcohol and drug testing is a condition of employment
