Overview

Any employee who feels he/she meets the qualifications listed below may request an assignment preference form available from your Supervisor or Human Resources. Completing the form and returning it to Human Resource Department within five (5) workdays will provide the opportunity to be considered for the opening. The following qualifications must be met:

Overview:

The Welding Technician has the responsibility to perform the necessary tasks involved in the providing technical support for welding manufacturing processes; troubleshooting and correcting welding related manufacturing problems and working production as business needs require.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the welding processes and assists in troubleshooting welding problems. Inspects weld quality according to inspection criteria
  • Administers and documents welding qualification tests as required according to the department weld qualification procedures
  • Interfaces with the various support groups, outside vendors, and customers to ensure that the maintenance, quality, and equipment requirements are being achieved.
  • Assists in utilizing new welding technologies
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment and to effectively communicate with scheduling, material handling and manufacturing personnel.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain a uniform weld
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to understand and demonstrate SWI/MIG in welding area
  • Must comply with all Environmental Management System (EMS) policies and procedure

Education/Certifications:

· Certified Weld Inspector according to requirements set forth by AWS-QC 1-96, 30-45 days after accepting position

  • Must be able to display basic welding knowledge and working knowledge of Meritor welding production procedures
