Overview

As part of the Lloydminster Robotics Team, the Weld Lead will bring welding / manufacturing expertise to the project team. You will ensure that the production parts produced by the Robot design team meet the quality requirements of the part. You will work with and be trained by the Integrator on skills of fixturing development, robot operation, pendant programming and potentially offline programming. You will work with the team to identify the parts suited for welding by a robot, develop implementation plans, develop fixturing requirements, work with design teams to optimize parts for automation, select and integrate appropriate weld procedures and techniques, build or oversee the building of fixtures, conduct pendant programming of weld robot (and potentially off line programming), commission new part welding, quality checks and training of eventual Robotic Weld Operators.

Accountabilities:

· Ensure parts produced meet Quality requirements, critical dimensions, at time of part implementation.

· Provide insight into current jigging and weld process to make part correctly.

· With integrator support determine which parts are practical to automate.

· Look for design improvement opportunities to make automation more effective.

· Provide regular reporting to project manager on project status.

· Support the training of Production Robotics Operators on the safe and efficient use of the equipment, including troubleshooting robot performance.

· Support the Maintenance Staff as needed to resolve equipment issues.

· Implement off line programming software to support the efficient use of automation equipment.

Qualifications:

· This position requires several years of welding experience.

· Familiar with Jigging/fixturing techniques and concepts to hold material in place.

· Familiarity with weld processes of various steps of part manufacturing.

· An eye for process improvement opportunities.

· Understanding all current weld processes used in Lloydminster facility.

· Eagerness to learn new automation technology.

· Working knowledge of standard Microsoft office programs.

· Proven knowledge and successful usage of multiple welding machine types and Fit up techniques.

· Strong ability to work simultaneously on multiple assignments and thrive in a team-oriented structure.

Additional Requirements/Information:

· This position will require travel to other sites within Alberta and with equipment vendors in Western Canada.

· This position will include additional robotics and automation training opportunities.
