Corral Steel is looking for a well-rounded, hardworking, and experienced Field Lead Hand with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction sector. The Lead Welder will be Supervising Installation sites and Welding/Installing Custom Metal Fabrication. A strong background in welding with 5 Years of welding experience and supervisory/team leader experience is an asset.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Site Supervisor & Installer – Lead Welder

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Lead Welder – Fabricator provides lead supervision in the oversight of the activities of the weld shop/work site and performs specialized duties involving welding and metal fabrication related to Custom Metal Fabrication and Installation. The lead welder will also be supervising the work site and reporting to the business owner on a regular daily basis.

Duties include – Site supervision and installation supervision. Performing daily quality control checks and ensuring welding and fabricating meets the appropriate codes, also welding and installing and reporting to the president/business owner daily

· Co-ordinate manpower and provide leadership on site as per instructions by Corral management to ensure work performed is done as specified by drawings and schedule.

· Review and obtain information for a customer change of scope or extra scope of work on the project as required.

· On-site welding, fitting and installation will be required when travelling to various job sites in the GTA for the installation of stairs, handrails, caging, exterior/interior ladders, and other miscellaneous metals as required

· Maintain material inventory for project sites.

· Effectively communicate with customer Superintendent on site.

· Work with schedules provided and report potential shortfalls for remedial action.

· Fully competent in reading and interpreting plans, shop drawings, specifications, schematics, and construction documents.

· Responsible for effectively scheduling and managing workers on the Jobsite and ensuring workers are following Health & Safety rules and regulations.

· Implementing the Company Health & Safety Program on-site. Must be willing to set precedent and execute the company’s Health & Safety Program. This includes filling out appropriate forms, ensuring PPE is always worn and ensuring everyone on site is complying with Legal Regulations.

· Strong ability to quickly identify problems, analyze causes and produce solutions and lead a team to successful completion. Responsible for advising office management of issues, including making diagrams/sketches/drawings, to explain issues so that they may be fully understood by all parties involved and answered accordingly.

· Ability to work in a professional/respectful manner while maintaining a clean, organized and safe work area.

· Ability to work in an ever-changing environment and professionally & effectively handle multiple tasks.

· Effectively and clearly communicate to those on the Jobsite and relay project status updates to the assigned project manager. Progress photos are to be taken and shared, showing significant project status. Communicating respectfully is key.

· Familiarity with most welding-related standards, quality requirements and documentation.

· Build welded assemblies for new products and changes to existing products as per engineering documents and established production standards.

· Operating other necessary equipment and performing tasks necessary to complete parts to specifications.

· Preparing and setup up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.

· Arranging of parts for welding and staging processes.

· Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.

· Review finished assemblies & parts to ensure accuracy against drawings.

· Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.

· Perform other related duties as required by the Owner.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Only Canadian Citizens, PRs, or valid Work Permit holders will be considered
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (welding school an asset)
  • 10-15 years of experience welding, (fitting background is required)
  • Must be able to pass TIG and MIG (Metal Inert Gas) test
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and measurement tools
  • Strong knowledge and experience with MIG and TIG welding
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, and technical manuals
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  • Strong team player and the ability to work independently
  • Welding Certifications or tickets (preferred)
  • Ability to lift 30 – 50 KG
